Treketic is an association of professional tour guides, actors of sustainable tourism together by a common ethic.
All trips Treketic emphasize ways to travel slow, soft and clean. We offer original tracks, in small groups (max 12) to provide travel-sized to avoid the effects of over-attendance areas.
For us, the trip is primarily a vector of human encounter, and must be environmentally and people. We performed a deep process of reflection on the impact of our trips to both the environment and the social, cultural and economic respecting a number of commitments:
All members of Treketic tour guides are qualified and experienced that develop and produce themselves travel and tourism have cleared. Most of us have worked or are working with leading tour operators adventure travel. We have professional equipment suitable for our business, shipments of tents, gps, means of communications ... We offer a range of circuits at different levels and physical engagement adapted to the desires of each.
When traveling with Treketic is involved in the development of short circuits. Booking the trip is direct, unmediated. We prefer local suppliers, both in terms of equipment, and in terms of food. Most of our partners are small local producers to promote environmentally friendly maintenance of a quality farming and local crafts.
All transportation during the trek are clean. When supply is essential, we limit the maximum displacement. We prefer to use pack animals wherever possible. All our tours are designed to be accessible by train if possible. Transfers from the nearest station is free and provided by us.
To prevent water pollution and soil, we provide a biodegradable soap for our walkers. We explain our hikers how to use and set up of water saving techniques that ensure comfort for hikers while minimizing waste. In order to minimize the environmental impact of consumer waste and those of human origin, we are committed to all the waste down, to sort. We prefer as much as possible items to environmentally friendly packaging, recyclable or reusable, we avoid the overpack. The papers are burned or swept away dirty. Retail shopping is kept to a minimum by organizing bulk purchases directly from producers. We use appliances and rechargeable batteries.
The transportation to the place of residence of CO2 emissions produced in large quantities in the atmosphere (over 80% of CO2 emissions from travel). We prefer to avoid public transportation, train and car pooling. We offer extended stays to avoid multiple trips. We are committed to the development of renewable energy. Each guide offers mainly routes in the region, promoting a local tourism.
All guides and escorts Treketic are aware of the richness and fragility of the environments they pass through. Circuits avoid particularly sensitive areas. We inform our hikers on the fragile ecosystems and what to do to preserve the fauna and flora. Pastures grown to feed the horses and pack animals that we use in trekking on horseback or foot operated without fertilizers or pesticides. We try to ensure the greatest possible comfort, our only limit is the respect for the environment. Fires may be lit in order to cook and enjoy convivial moments. However, to limit our impact on the location, we will respect the sensitive areas, sensitive or protected habitat. The fires are lit in secure places and off when no longer under supervision. We keep a distance of 30 meters of water points and at least 100 meters from the entrances of caves. The wash water is poured on the ground away from water points and a suitable product is used. The tents are mounted on various locations, to allow the soil to regenerate between uses. The charred wood is dead or already cut, and the amount used is minimum to avoid waste. We use the gas to areas without dead wood. Fires are excluded wooded areas, sensitive, dry and wherever prohibited by law.
All our partners and suppliers are local with whom we have established strong human relationships. On the economic front, we make a work of reflection to pay providers and suppliers at a fair price by focusing on local economy. Hikers are advised on appropriate conduct to respect the local culture and avoid creating imbalances. We favor of the highlights of meeting and exchange. When we accompany the trekking in the southern countries, we are particularly attentive to the distribution of income and working conditions. The guides know the areas crossed and the local population, they constitute a social and cultural mediator. Treketic members are involved in local development, they are involved and campaigning to keep their cultural heritage, environmental and human. We are strong supporters of maintaining farming and microeconomics. All the tour guides of Treketic have signed rules of procedure for Treketic which provides all of these points, they pledged to respect them. Our activities take place mostly in fragile or sensitive areas. Each room has an impact on these: Whether the concentration of people in a place of conflict over access to water in some areas, increasing the price of land or a distortion of income abroad. All this led us to consider how to minimize these impacts including the provision of circuits outside the big top destinations. Our trips are generally off the beaten attended, which also allows a healthier relationship with local people and a small footprint in the areas crossed.
